About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Atlas Structures and Mechanisms team at Boston Dynamics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance mechanical structures for our humanoid robot.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical structures that meet or exceed performance requirements while minimizing cost
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize design requirements and constraints
  • Develop and maintain detailed design specifications, including CAD models, drawings, and assembly documentation
  • Conduct analysis and testing to validate design performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Work with vendors to source and procure components and assemblies
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results
  • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
  • BSME or MSME degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or MSME with 3+ years of experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a professional and product-driven environment
  • Extensive experience designing moderate to high complexity mechanical structures in 2 or more production-focused fabrication methods
  • Advanced CAD user skills, including FEA and topology optimization
  • A working knowledge of ASME drafting standards, including GD&T
  • Experience with NPI, EVT, and DVT processes
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with robotics or mechatronics
  • Knowledge of machine learning or AI
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
