Rutgers The State University is seeking a Mental Health Services Coordinator in the Outpatient department of Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $53,144 to $55,806 annually, depending on experience. The selected candidate will perform various tasks in support of the unit's mission, providing person-centered, culturally competent, and consumer-friendly services to individuals who contact the Call Center. The Mental Health Services Coordinator will receive requests for service, undertake reviews of the service needs of the caller or consumer, and respond by offering support and appropriate referrals and dispositions. The following are key duties of this position:

* As part of the Call Center team, the coordinator will interact with the supervisor regarding duties and assignments for each shift.

* The coordinator will provide assistance to Mental Health Specialists III as needed, and under the direction of the supervisor.

* The coordinator will develop a schedule for follow-up calls.

* The coordinator will provide customer-friendly services, taking initiative in engaging individuals served in an empathic and concerned manner.

* The coordinator will promptly respond to all service requests.

* The coordinator will respond to referrals, inquiries, and other contacts with professionals, outside agencies, and other parties in a professional and cordial manner.

* The coordinator will take the initiative to identify the needs of the individual served, using language and tone that communicates respect for the individual.

* The coordinator will respond with sensitivity to cultural and socio-economic issues of individuals served.

* The coordinator will model for individuals served good communication skills, living skills, effective coping skills, and self-help strategies.

* The coordinator will assist individuals served in identifying their personal goals, setting objectives for each goal, and determining interventions to be used based on the consumer's life goals.

The selected candidate will be required to have a minimum of four years of full-time experience in the mental health field or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant mental or social health care field. Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree. The candidate must also possess a valid New Jersey certification or licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work. The following are required skills and qualifications:

* Ability to use a computer to record services and other basic office functions.

* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

* Fluency in Spanish is required.

Previous training and/or experience working with substance use disorders is preferred. The selected candidate will work in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
