Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ryder in Braintree, MA. As a Senior Level Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
- All other certification as required by location, required
Benefits:
- Average Weekly Pay: $1482
- Hourly Pay: $37.06 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Sign On Bonus: Ryder Pays You $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
- Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year
- Tool Allowance: $425 every year
- Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday
- Hours: Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
