The role involves spearheading the development of Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) media and establishing a technology roadmap for future HDD products. The successful candidate will manage the integration of innovative technologies into new product designs.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate new media designs for product implementation.
- Drive initiatives for next-generation thin film media by identifying novel magnetic materials, underlayer structures, and manufacturing processes.
- Partner with the equipment development team to determine necessary sputter tool components and configurations for advanced media production, ensuring process qualification.
- Foster close collaboration with colleagues and utilize creative problem-solving to advance magnetic media development.
- Ph.D. with 6+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years of experience in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the disk drive sector is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) is essential.
- A robust research background in magnetic thin film media, synthesis, material properties, and advanced characterization is required.
- Ability to apply advanced technical knowledge to manage intricate programs.
- Contribute to shaping the company's technical and business strategies.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential interdisciplinary issues.
- Lead and build teams, influencing key decisions and outcomes.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and direction to technical teams and management.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
