Job Overview

The role involves spearheading the development of Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) media and establishing a technology roadmap for future HDD products. The successful candidate will manage the integration of innovative technologies into new product designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate new media designs for product implementation.
  • Drive initiatives for next-generation thin film media by identifying novel magnetic materials, underlayer structures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with the equipment development team to determine necessary sputter tool components and configurations for advanced media production, ensuring process qualification.
  • Foster close collaboration with colleagues and utilize creative problem-solving to advance magnetic media development.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. with 6+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years of experience in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the disk drive sector is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) is essential.
  • A robust research background in magnetic thin film media, synthesis, material properties, and advanced characterization is required.
  • Ability to apply advanced technical knowledge to manage intricate programs.
  • Contribute to shaping the company's technical and business strategies.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential interdisciplinary issues.
  • Lead and build teams, influencing key decisions and outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance and direction to technical teams and management.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
