As a Senior Accountant within the Treasury Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in managing accounting processes related to capital market transactions, derivatives, and share-based compensation. Your expertise will contribute to Gilead's mission of creating a healthier world for all.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee accounting functions for debt and equity transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
2. Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
3. Analyze balance sheet variances and prepare detailed explanations.
4. Develop SEC reporting schedules, encompassing statements of stockholders' equity and comprehensive income.
5. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate quarterly reviews and audits, providing timely and accurate information.
6. Maintain robust internal controls within your areas of responsibility.
7. Assist in updating global accounting policies in line with regulatory guidance.
8. Support the preparation and review of proxy materials as needed.
9. Engage with various departments, including Global Financial Solutions, Tax, and Treasury, to streamline the closing process and support special projects.
10. Conduct ad hoc research and contribute to special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- CPA, Chartered Accountant, or MBA preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Highly analytical with a proactive approach to problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with data analytics tools is advantageous.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
- Experience in a multinational organization is a plus.
