Role Overview:
We are seeking multiple Mechanical Engineers to contribute to the mechanical engineering design elements of a significant new water recycling and sludge treatment facility. In this capacity, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering outputs in alignment with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the evaluation and preparation of critical mechanical options for client and stakeholder review, ensuring risks are managed and the Project Basis of Design is upheld.
2. Conduct design calculations for the sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, power generation, and building services equipment.
3. Collaborate with the supply chain to assess and integrate the latest technologies into the optioneering process.
4. Work closely with the design team to create 3D models and innovative solutions.
5. Supervise the production of essential documents, including P&IDs, data sheets, HAZID and HAZOP studies, and mechanical contributions to commissioning plans and performance tests.
6. Ensure all technical outputs meet the highest standards by applying Project 13 and NIC "Good Design" Principles to influence design delivery.
7. Identify and advocate for opportunities that align with project objectives in digital innovation, sustainability, and workforce development.
8. Develop mechanical design layouts that are cost-effective, meet specification requirements, and facilitate efficient procurement, installation, and commissioning.
9. Ensure timely and budget-compliant procurement of plant and equipment.
10. Monitor design costs and provide appropriate design services within budgetary constraints.
11. Produce estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
12. Coordinate designs with all internal and external disciplines to ensure full integration of design elements.
13. Focus on delivering services that prioritize customer satisfaction.
14. Adhere to all health and safety regulations in design considerations.
15. Consider environmental impacts in all design processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
– HNC in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
– Ability to rationalize designs and create efficient plant layouts.
– General understanding of water treatment processes, including civil, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
– Knowledge of water and sewage treatment principles.
