The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos is seeking a part-time instructor for the course AIS 250: Indigenous Cultures and Historical Perspectives. The compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
Course Overview:
This course delves into the rich history and cultural practices of Indigenous peoples in California, employing a place-based methodology to explore various facets of Indigenous culture across the state and region. Topics include:
- The historical and contemporary status of Indigenous identities
- Oral traditions and storytelling
- Musical and dance expressions
- Gender roles and artistic representations
- Language and current socio-political issues affecting Indigenous communities
- Colonization and the resilience of Indigenous peoples
Qualifications:
A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience in higher education teaching

Compensation:
Salary will be aligned with the candidate's degree level and experience, with an anticipated range reflecting the Lecturer - Academic Year classification.
