Pharmacist (Full or Part Time) - Clinical Expertise

Job Objectives
Deliver exceptional pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on medication adherence and awareness of potential interactions. Provide preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services. Ensure the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage patients by offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues in a timely manner, and providing answers to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience, including interpersonal habits that show care and Walgreens service traits.
- Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, promoting the shift of the Walgreens pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal.
- Participate in events that reflect the unique communities served, as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, District Manager, or Pharmacy Manager.
Operations
- Counsel patients and answer questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed.
- Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications according to workload and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards, assisting the pharmacy manager in establishing procedures for efficient workflow.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point of sale registers to provide support to patients and pharmacy staff.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections, following up with insurance companies and medical providers.
- Follow up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, suggesting alternative medications and answering medical provider questions.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
- Assist and support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financials, customer service, and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management.
- Develop and maintain good connections with local medical communities, participating in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business, enhance growth opportunities, and provide better health.
- Partner with centralized support for patient registration, exception resolution, and assist with resolving patient issues, conducting virtual product reviews according to company procedures and guidelines.
People & Performance Management
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, reinforcing the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering team member development.
- Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide such clinical services.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications, maintaining awareness of developments in retail and management, and pursuing best practices that enhance performance.
- Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company.
- Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach.
Communications
- Support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff.
