Pet Food Express Store Manager

We are a leading independent pet food and supply retailer, committed to providing the best for pets. Our philosophy is built on customer loyalty, and we're seeking a confident and experienced Store Manager to excel at store operations and drive team success.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Store Manager, you will:
- Lead a team of passionate pet people to engage and build a loyal customer base, understand customer needs, and educate customers on pet wellbeing.
- Ensure employee and customer health and safety, while teaching employees to maintain excellent floor awareness.
- Stay up-to-date on new products, industry trends, and opportunities, and share knowledge with your team.
You will:
- Connect employees to the company vision, generate team buy-in, and develop a clear understanding of store and individual sales goals, customer service, and visual merchandising standards.
- Mentor your team through the Skill Level Program, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their roles and are accountable for learning and skill development.
- Evaluate and manage team performance through dialogues, development plans, feedback, and follow-ups, taking actions to improve performance to support business needs.
You will:
- Create an equitable, inspiring, and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration, honesty, openness, and welcomes all.
- Recruit, hire, and develop a strong and diverse team to drive store operations and build bench strength for future growth.
- Partner with Recruiting/HR, District and Area Managers, and other stakeholders to develop applicant streams of talented leaders from inside and outside the organization.
You will:
- Leverage tools, reports, and insights to make adaptations that result in increased sales and service for customers.
- Execute the store operations playbook to ensure a clean, friendly, and efficient store, achieving financial and operational store objectives, including expense control, loss prevention, and store audits.
- Lead the store team through store opening and closing, implementing visual merchandising directives while maintaining standards consistent with Pet Food Express' brand guidelines.
We're looking for a candidate with:
- Minimum 3+ years of successful retail management experience, demonstrating dynamic leadership skills, ability to lead, motivate, and develop future leaders.
- Drive and ambition, with a willingness to learn and lead daily educational activities.
- Proficiency in interpreting and using retail financial metrics to drive key performance indicators (KPI).
- Demonstrated ability to set standards and hold self and team accountable.
- Commitment to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds, using appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.
