Job Summary

The Van Meter Community School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Activities Director to lead our school activities program. As a key member of our district team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the program and its operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize, supervise, and administer the district's school activities program according to board policies, administration regulations, and conference/state association rules.
  • Develop and maintain the district activities calendar.
  • Schedule all athletic and activity events; coordinate officials.
  • Arrange and schedule use of facilities for activities programming, as well as non-school use of fields and facilities.
  • Provide for the coordination of activities at home events including workers, supervisors, law enforcement, trainers, and all other supplementary activities.
  • Coordinate transportation needs of the activities program.
  • Administer the activities program budget including the maintenance and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Oversee student eligibility.
  • Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of activity sponsors and coaches.
  • Foster good sportsmanship and school-community relationships.
  • Partner with and advise the booster club organizations and serve as liaison between the booster clubs and the activities program.
  • Plan and supervise activities recognition programs for students.
  • Represent the Van Meter Community School District at conference, district, state, and national meetings.
  • Attend school board meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or principals.

Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A valid State of Iowa Teaching License.
  • Administrator certification preferred.
  • A valid State of Iowa Evaluator License (or willingness to obtain).
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.

Terms of Employment
  • 240 day contract.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package in comparison with the Des Moines Metro area.
