Cypress Creek Pet Care, a member of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community, is seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant.

In this position, you will be instrumental in providing essential care to pets throughout their treatment journey. Your responsibilities will include assisting Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with various tasks such as treatments, laboratory tests, surgeries, and support services including patient admissions and discharges.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Prior experience as a Veterinary Technician Assistant
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of animal behavior
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry
  • Passion for animal care
  • Proficient in documentation and computer skills

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting Technicians:

• Restraining animals

• Monitoring vital signs as directed by the technician

• Collecting samples as instructed

• Conducting lab work under the technician's supervision

• Supporting Technicians during appointments

• Preparing animals for treatments

• Assisting with imaging procedures

• Walking animals

• Maintaining cleanliness of workstations post-treatment

• Daily sanitation of sinks and wet tables

• Cleaning slides and fecal loops

Surgical Preparation:

• Assisting Technicians in preparing patients for surgery

• Setting up surgical areas
  • Preparing gowns
  • Preparing gloves
  • Preparing surgical caps
  • Preparing masks

• Sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
  • Surgery packs

  • Miscellaneous surgical tools

• Managing surgical laundry
  • Washing and drying

Supporting Doctors:

• Restraining animals

• Assisting with treatments as directed

• Cleaning treatment areas after each use

Collaborating with Animal Caretakers:

• Assisting and releasing animals when needed

• Cleaning cages in treatment rooms as necessary

• Checking in boarders
