Position Summary: The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless supply and timely acquisition of inventory materials for our distribution centers and offices. This position involves nurturing vendor relationships and engaging in quarterly business reviews to optimize procurement strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee inventory levels and initiate orders to maintain optimal stock.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and present recommendations to management.
- Track vendor back-orders and source alternative suppliers when necessary.
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Stay informed about potential price increases and new product offerings to mitigate inventory risks.
- Manage excess inventory by coordinating with suppliers and maintaining accurate stock levels.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in procurement.
- Minimum of 2 years in corporate purchasing within the home improvement sector.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting using advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in supply chain management, ideally in a distribution context.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability for achieving goals.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness in task completion.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate information and solve complex issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a large direct-to-consumer organization.
Travel Requirements: Minimal domestic travel may be required.
Work Environment: Standard office setting with a focus on sedentary tasks.
