- Prepare and maintain health assessments for annual evaluations.
- Identify health problems, make referrals for diagnosis and treatment, and develop educational modifications.
- Provide counseling and follow-up services to students with disabilities.
- Follow up on homebound students requiring related health care services.
- Provide intervention in times of school crisis, such as death, suicide, or traumatic events.
- Initiate, encourage, and participate in health education programs for children.
- Assist special education children in accepting or adjusting to their physical, emotional, or health limitations.
- Provide health counseling to parents of special education students and individual and group health counseling to special education students.
- Develop and implement medication protocols for safely storing, administering, documenting, and monitoring medication given at school.
- Coordinate activities related to communicable disease regulations.
- Assist with state and federal mandated screenings and provide follow-up for deficits in vision, hearing, growth, and development, and other physical impairments.
The ideal candidate will possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. A valid Illinois nursing license and current certification in CPR are mandatory. The candidate should also have strong oral, written communication, and computer skills, as well as experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
