Position Overview:

The Medical Instrument Technician (Supervisory Anesthesia Technician) plays a crucial role within the Anesthesia Service at the Veterans Health Administration. This position entails comprehensive administrative and professional oversight, ensuring the effective management of a team of technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of anesthesia technicians across various medical facilities and outpatient clinics.
  • Provide expert anesthesia technician services, particularly in complex clinical scenarios.
  • Evaluate and implement new techniques and equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage budgetary considerations, including resource allocation and expenditure tracking.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, staff selection, and make recommendations for professional development and disciplinary actions.
Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a thorough understanding of advanced anesthesiology procedures, including but not limited to:

  • Extracorporeal blood salvage and autotransfusion techniques.
  • Arterial and venous cannulation for monitoring and medication delivery.
Supervisory Duties:

  • Resolve operational challenges that may affect patient care.
