The Medical Instrument Technician (Supervisory Anesthesia Technician) plays a crucial role within the Anesthesia Service at the Veterans Health Administration. This position entails comprehensive administrative and professional oversight, ensuring the effective management of a team of technicians.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and coordinate the activities of anesthesia technicians across various medical facilities and outpatient clinics.
- Provide expert anesthesia technician services, particularly in complex clinical scenarios.
- Evaluate and implement new techniques and equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage budgetary considerations, including resource allocation and expenditure tracking.
- Conduct performance evaluations, staff selection, and make recommendations for professional development and disciplinary actions.
The ideal candidate must possess a thorough understanding of advanced anesthesiology procedures, including but not limited to:
- Extracorporeal blood salvage and autotransfusion techniques.
- Arterial and venous cannulation for monitoring and medication delivery.
As a supervisor, the incumbent will:
- Direct the workflow of subordinate staff, ensuring effective task assignment and performance assessment.
- Resolve operational challenges that may affect patient care.
- Participate in the clinical training program, contributing to the education of staff.
This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling options available. The role is not virtual and requires on-site presence.
Additional Requirements:Applicants must be U.S. citizens and proficient in English. Background checks and compliance with health regulations are mandatory.
Preferred Experience:Candidates with extensive experience in anesthesia equipment management, strong communication skills, and a background in supervisory roles within healthcare settings will be highly regarded.
