At Commercial Metals Company, we're seeking a skilled Shear Operator to join our team. As a Shear Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our steel production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance personnel as needed to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Participate in our comprehensive safety programs and uphold our safety culture
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues about production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of equipment inspection reports
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed, with minimal supervision
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to company standards
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems using technical knowledge and collaboration with colleagues
  • Understand and follow start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures

Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and noise
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in software applications
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Ability to learn quickly and multitask, with a strong focus on safety and quality
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays
