Position Overview:
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for the design, execution, and enhancement of manufacturing methodologies, ensuring alignment with product specifications and quality benchmarks. This role involves diagnosing production challenges to identify root causes and implement corrective measures. The engineer will also oversee the introduction of new or modified products into the manufacturing process, collaborating closely with production teams to achieve key performance metrics. Responsibilities include defining tooling needs and managing projects related to tooling implementation, as well as recommending and integrating new manufacturing technologies.
Supervisory Role:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate efficient manufacturing processes by analyzing product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and validating manufacturing, assembly, and inspection techniques.
- Identify, justify costs, design, develop, and test various tools, machinery, and equipment for proposed manufacturing methods; oversee sourcing as necessary.
- Facilitate the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, which includes establishing processes, implementing new tooling, providing written guidelines, addressing manufacturing challenges, and assessing outcomes.
- Assess manufacturing processes to uncover continuous improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Utilize knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. Engage with equipment suppliers and gather insights from operators. Collect, analyze, and summarize manufacturing data and trends.
- Implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production issues, enhance product reliability, or reduce costs.
- Ensure equipment functionality by specifying and coordinating maintenance and repair activities.
- Develop design-for-manufacturing criteria and process capability expertise to contribute to future product and process design initiatives.
- Engage with clients, suppliers, staff, and management regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or project status.
- Maintain a visible engineering presence on the production floor to ensure effective interaction with team members across all shifts and provide necessary engineering support and feedback.
- Offer technical resources for incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Participate in the finished product and raw material MRB process as needed.
- Deliver training to production and support personnel. Develop and implement standard operating procedures while promoting standard manufacturing practices.
- Guide other engineers and technicians in best practices.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an Engineering discipline or equivalent, with a preference for Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:
- Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles and technology in the design and production of goods and services.
- Production and Processing: Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues and lead a systematic approach to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Project Management: Capability to drive projects to completion using tools and methodologies to define scope, schedule, and resource needs.
- Communication: Proficient in conveying complex concepts effectively across all organizational levels in both verbal and written formats.
- Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Mechanical: Familiarity with machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in creating precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications. CAD software skills are preferred, with a focus on Creo. Familiarity with ERP and MES systems is advantageous.
- Language: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Quality: High attention to detail and accuracy; ability to identify, troubleshoot, and determine root causes of issues.
- Teamwork: Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; openness to others' views; positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
