Position Title: Machinist I

Compensation Range: $25-35/hr DOE

Position Summary

Typical Work Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

This role is essential for producing prototype components that validate new concepts and theories for cryogenic products or tooling within this specialized environment. The individual in this position will be tasked with the machining and finishing of complex parts, requiring the ability to interpret drawings or sketches accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Interprets specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or verbal instructions to visualize the product and determine necessary materials and machinery for fabrication.
• Sets up and operates manual machines and tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, ensuring machined parts conform to precise specifications.
• Completes hand/bench work as required to finalize products.
• Develops necessary tooling to fulfill specific manufacturing or research and development needs.
• Modifies existing components as directed.
• Meets customer deadlines and remains adaptable to departmental needs.
• Maintains cleanliness and performs preventive maintenance on manual production machines as scheduled.
• Adheres to quality and safety standards established by Bluefors regarding all equipment and products.
• Keeps accurate records of work performed.
• Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Educational Background

• Completion of apprenticeship training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a job shop environment is preferred, with proficiency in machining various metals, including copper and stainless steel.
