Our mission is to elevate our disadvantaged youth by offering them a second chance through mentorship and reclamation.

Our Programs

We specialize in mentorship programs addressing lack of self-esteem, LGBT+ coming out, relationships, peer-to-peer support, family or self-hurt issues, and bullying.

Job Description

As the LGBTQ+ Committee Board Chair, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for the committee, ensuring that the needs and voices of LGBTQ+ youth are effectively represented and supported within our programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Lead the LGBTQ+ Committee, setting agendas, facilitating meetings, and guiding the committee's work.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to support and empower LGBTQ+ youth within Brakin Out Inc.'s programs.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of LGBTQ+ youth within the organization and the broader community.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with staff and volunteers to design and implement programs and initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and resource sharing.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist in fundraising efforts, including identifying potential funding sources and supporting grant applications.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in leadership roles within LGBTQ+ organizations or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Brakin Out Inc.
  • Experience in strategic planning, program development, and advocacy.
  • Previous board experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact on the community.
