Position Summary:
The Field Service Engineering Supervisor (FSES) is responsible for overseeing the operational support within the designated work breakdown structure. This role is crucial for the management and enhancement of Telemetry and Radar Data Processing Systems, Mission Control Centers, and associated data distribution frameworks. The FSES ensures that all technical support is delivered efficiently, meeting stringent quality benchmarks while adhering to project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead training initiatives and provide technical guidance for all activities related to the designated work structure. This includes assigning tasks, supervising performance, and conducting evaluations of team members.
- Maintain effective communication with technical monitors and performance engineers to ensure alignment on mission requirements and priorities.
- Adhere to configuration control protocols and reporting processes to guarantee accurate documentation and timely updates.
- Conduct routine and corrective maintenance on specialized telemetry systems, ensuring compliance with established procedures and the ability to troubleshoot various issues independently.
- Perform thorough pre and post operational checks on instrumentation and data acquisition systems to support mission schedules.
- Collaborate with clients and project teams to develop, integrate, and maintain complex systems while upholding high standards of quality and compliance with established practices.
Additional Duties:
Engage in other responsibilities as necessary, including cross-training in various functional areas to support overall project objectives. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and manage equipment according to industry standards. Troubleshoot and repair communication devices as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: An Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Equivalent formal training may be considered.
Experience: A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, particularly in range operations related to aircraft or spacecraft testing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background in the operations and maintenance of telemetry and radar systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C#, and XML is essential, along with a solid understanding of communication equipment and electronic theory.
Core Competencies:
Expertise in configuring and operating telemetry systems, along with the ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats are crucial.
Work Environment:
This role requires prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Candidates must be capable of passing a physical examination for operating motorized equipment and may be required to travel as necessary.
