Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Field Service Engineering Supervisor (FSES) role is crucial for the oversight and management of operational tasks within the designated work scope. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective support, maintenance, and enhancement of Telemetry and Radar Data Processing Systems (TRAPS), Mission Control Centers (MCC), and associated data management systems. The FSES will also oversee the Mobile Operations Facilities (MOF), Range Safety Station (RSS), and Ground Control Stations (GCS) owned by the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and technical guidance for all operations related to the designated work scope, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with various technical personnel, ensuring that mission requirements are prioritized and coordinated efficiently.
  • Adhere to established configuration control processes and reporting protocols to ensure accuracy and timeliness in operations.
  • Conduct maintenance and engineering support for specialized telemetry systems, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and resolve both routine and complex issues independently.
  • Perform thorough pre- and post-flight checks, ensuring that all instrumentation and data acquisition systems are operational and meet mission schedules.
  • Collaborate with customers and project teams to develop, integrate, and maintain complex systems while adhering to high standards of workmanship.

Additional Duties:

Undertake other responsibilities as necessary, including cross-training in various functional areas to support overall project objectives. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work environment and equipment, and operate necessary machinery and vehicles as required.

Qualifications:

Education: An Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Equivalent formal training may be considered.

Experience: A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, particularly in range operations related to aircraft or spacecraft testing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background in the operations and maintenance of telemetry and radar data processing systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C#, and XML is essential, along with a solid understanding of communication equipment and electronic theory.

Core Competencies:

Expertise in: Configuring and operating telemetry and radar data processing systems, along with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for range systems.

Ability to: Work effectively under pressure, communicate clearly, and establish successful working relationships with team members and system users.

Work Environment:

This role requires prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Candidates must be capable of passing a physical exam for operating motorized equipment and be prepared for travel as necessary.
