Position Overview:
The Storage Administrator will be responsible for supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) at Patrick Space Force Base. This role entails overseeing and sustaining storage systems and environments, ensuring their security, efficiency, and adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) standards. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of NetApp storage technologies and demonstrate a proactive problem-solving approach within a collaborative team setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of Storage Environments: Set up new storage environments that comply with vendor best practices and DoD, Air Force, and AFTAC guidelines.
  • Technical Assistance: Offer technical support for NetApp storage systems, including SAN and NAS configurations on both Windows and Linux platforms. Facilitate the deployment of databases and virtual environments on NetApp storage systems.
  • Disaster Recovery Implementation: Develop and maintain NetApp disaster recovery solutions utilizing NetApp replication technologies.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Enable auditing of NetApp systems to a centralized log server to meet logging and auditing standards. Ensure storage systems are compliant with DoD, Air Force, and AFTAC regulations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize NetApp tools to assess storage system performance and collect historical data for performance evaluation. Enhance storage performance and suggest corrective measures.
  • Backup Management: Provide technical support for Veritas NetBackup and other backup solutions. Establish backup schedules, monitor backup status, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including test plans and hardware inventories. Deliver monthly status reports and technical presentations.
  • On-Call Support: Respond to on-call support requests within one hour of notification. Provide both telephone and on-site assistance as required.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a NetApp storage administrator, demonstrating the ability to fulfill the key responsibilities of this role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Required Certifications:
    • IAT Level 2 Certification: (One of the following required: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
    • NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
  • Desired Certifications: NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE)
  • Skills: Expertise in NetApp technologies, storage networking, and data protection solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Security Clearance: Must hold a Top Secret security clearance with the capability to obtain SCI.
Work Environment:
The Storage Administrator will primarily operate from Patrick SFB, working within a secured government facility. The role necessitates strict compliance with security protocols and may involve periodic on-call support to address critical IT system issues outside of standard working hours.
