Scope of Position:

The Behavior Support Technician is a paraprofessional who plays a vital role in fostering a secure and productive educational atmosphere by applying evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in classroom settings under the continuous supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

Job Overview:

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma; 60 credits from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Successful completion of training, supervision, and assessment requirements leading to the attainment of the nationally-recognized Behavior Support Technician certification granted by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Experience working with students with developmental disabilities in educational settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with school administrators, teaching staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, utilizing appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction to teach communication, social, and daily living skills to students in both individual and group environments.
  • Implement classroom-based strategies to facilitate the positive integration of new students and those facing behavioral challenges.
  • Accurately gather, document, and analyze various observable data to monitor student progress and assess the effectiveness of behavioral strategies.
  • Assist Board Certified Behavior Analysts in the formulation and execution of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Contribute to staff development by demonstrating effective instructional and behavioral strategies.
  • Engage in relevant professional development opportunities to stay informed about current practices in Applied Behavior Analysis and related fields.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision with the assigned Board-Certified Behavior Analyst in accordance with the standards set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Fulfill all other related duties and responsibilities as outlined in the job description for Paraprofessionals as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor.
