Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook 1 to join our team at Jackson Health System. As a Cook 1, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Handle and store food in accordance with sanitary standards.
  • Prepare food for patients and retail customers.
  • Supervise a small group of food service workers as assigned.
  • Participate in daily temperature and taste panels to ensure quality.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion control standards to prevent food waste.
  • Operate various standard cooking equipment.
  • Report equipment problems to management.
  • Participate in cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and dining areas.
Requirements
  • 0-3 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
Working Conditions

This position requires extended walking or standing, and the ability to climb stairs, stoop, bend, crawl, and perform repetitive motions as needed. The job also requires visual acuity to perform job-related activities.

Environmental Conditions

This position is in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations. The job may involve working outdoors, exposure to potential hazards, and extreme weather conditions.
