GENERAL OVERVIEW

This role is integral to the clinical team, focusing on the precise dispensing of controlled substances as prescribed by healthcare providers. The position emphasizes effective communication with patients, clinical personnel, and medical practitioners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure adherence to ACHC specialty pharmacy accreditation standards.
  • Review prescriptions from providers for accuracy and assess necessary formulas and ingredients.
  • Accurately dispense controlled medications in a timely manner.
  • Engage in Medication Therapy Management by evaluating patient medications and providing clinical recommendations based on established guidelines.
  • Offer patient counseling with clear instructions regarding medication usage.
  • Uphold established protocols for the security of controlled substances and the disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Input data accurately into the information management system.
  • Facilitate effective communication with clinical staff and providers.
  • Prepare necessary reports as required.
  • Pre-authorize medications as mandated by insurance providers.
  • Conduct all duties, services, and documentation in strict compliance with CHC/SEK policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrate social and cultural sensitivity appropriate for a diverse patient and employee population.
  • Exhibit knowledge of the principles of effective patient care.
  • Communicate through appropriate channels, utilizing the proper chain of command for patient concerns.

  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA regulations.
