We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Specialist to join our team at UT Health Science Center. As a key member of our Pediatric Palliative Care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct complex patient evaluations and assessments, and provide appropriate treatment, including monitoring and ordering medications.
- Coordinate, direct, and implement patient care plans, ensuring seamless communication with healthcare teams.
- Assist in collecting patient histories, screens for co-morbidities, and provides guidance and preventative health care as needed.
- Perform physical examinations and provide episodic care, or problem-oriented care, under the supervision of a physician.
- Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests, and interpret results.
- Monitor treatment programs and inform attending physicians of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitate patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or preventative health care.
- Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare charts for review and counter signature by physicians.
- Prepare and care for supplies and equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Texas licensure as an APRN-NP.
- Current specialty certification as required by department, excluding FNP certification unless paired with a post-master's certification in specialty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty certification as required by department.
- Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters in Nursing with completion of a post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Pediatric Palliative Care, Pediatric Hospice, and Palliative Nurse Certification.
