We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team at CDI Engineering Solutions. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a culture of compliance on our projects, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring the safety of our employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a culture of compliance on the project, ensuring that all employees and contractors understand the importance of safety.
- Review and approve safety plans and execution plans for contractors, verifying that they comply with our HSE plan and site procedures.
- Receive and audit safety plans from subcontractors, ensuring that they meet our site requirements.
- Audit the jobsite daily against approved safety plans, identifying and addressing any safety concerns.
- Review and endorse mitigation plans for contractors that do not meet site requirements, securing waiver approval from the site manager.
- Become trained in our customer's site procedures and ensure that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow them.
- Perform BBS audits daily, identifying and addressing any safety concerns.
- Perform audits as indicated in the site HSE safety plan, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Attend all project safety meetings, leading the weekly site safety meeting and ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Attend tailgate meetings every morning, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Audit permits and pre-task analysis, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Become trained to issue work permits, monitoring the GC permit issuers for compliance with site practice.
- Audit work permits for compliance and coach improvements, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Participate in incident audits conducted by contractors, reviewing and endorsing contractor incident reports and providing them to the safety manager for final acceptance.
- Notify the project manager and site manager immediately of any incidents, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Verify that waste disposal by contractors is per site requirements, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Ensure that exposure monitoring is performed per the contractor safety plan, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Serve as the representative and focal point for contractors when the Construction Manager or Construction Coordinators are not available, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
- Ensure that the site contractors report man-hours and safety statistics weekly/monthly, ensuring that all employees and contractors are aware of and follow the plan.
Qualifications:
- Experience with audits of jobsites and permits.
- Experience reviewing and approving safety plans.
- Experience with mitigation plans.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Certified Safety Professional is preferred.
