The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality patient care in a long-term care setting. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the C.N.A assists staff members with and contributes to the implementation of the total patient plan of care, which includes activities of daily living, education, recreation, and transportation.
Key Responsibilities:- Assists with all patient routine activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
- Takes initial vital signs and provides weights to nursing staff in a timely manner.
- Reports changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient-related issues and supports patient rights.
- Provides additional care as directed by the RN/LPN and assists with orientation of patient/family to unit, facility, and services.
- Must hold an active Maine C.N.A License.
- Demonstrates effective listening skills to provide support for patient needs.
- Ability to empathize with patients and families.
- Able to remain objective in difficult circumstances.
