About the Role

At American Engineering Testing Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer 2 Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for coordinating and completing project testing services by applying your knowledge of engineering principles and practices to specific problems.

This role involves securing significant work, providing supervision and technical expertise in special engineering projects, and implementing established marketing goals for the department and company.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. They will also possess professional registration with one or more state licensing boards and strong communication skills to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or supervise testing, investigations, and evaluations, focusing on projects with a higher degree of difficulty.
  • Manage medium-to large-scope and/or medium- to large-risk projects from proposal to completion.
  • Prepare formal engineering reports, including recommendations.
  • Lead inter-office and/or inter-department project teams.
  • Critically review, edit, and sign technical reports and correspondence of other staff.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and technologies in designated fields.
  • Prepare proposals and perform marketing duties to meet established department and company goals.
  • Assist in coaching and training junior staff and perform critical performance appraisals of technicians and lower-level engineers and geologists.
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and manage risk/liability while working on projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field with at least 5 years of experience, OR advanced degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Professional registration with one or more state licensing boards.
  • Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles within pavement and geotechnical areas and ability to apply that knowledge to the job.
  • Communication skills sufficient to convey complex technical information in a clear manner to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Salary Range

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment
