The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dedicated ESL Assistant Instructor Intern to support our Adult Education program. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping refugees and immigrants transition into everyday life in the US.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist lead teachers in facilitating dynamic and engaging online English classes
  • Record daily attendance and assist with post-testing students
  • Support with class prep, including creating interactive activities
  • Conduct outreach to students to ensure attendance
  • Meet with lead teachers to receive instruction and guidance
  • Provide additional group tutoring for students
Learning Objectives:
  • Learn effective classroom management with students of various backgrounds and English language levels
  • Develop teamwork skills to prepare and execute lessons and activities
  • Engage with a diverse group of enthusiastic students from various countries
Requirements:
  • Experience teaching ESL to adults, with a bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience working with adult students from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent classroom management skills and confidence facilitating groups
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliability, responsibility, and dedication to the position
  • Fluency in Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, or Dari is a plus
