We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Imaging Technologist IV to join our team at Albany Medical Center. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging Department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care
- Educate patients on the purpose and type of test or procedure being performed.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patient.
- Review medical history of patients prior to starting a procedure.
- Confirm informed consent has been obtained before starting a procedure.
- Demonstrate good customer service skills and provide quality care.
- Procedural Assistance
- Verify that an order for a procedure has been obtained.
- Set up and maintain a sterile tray and sterile environment appropriate for performance of procedures.
- Administer contrast media with appropriate application of technical and positioning protocols.
- Possess, use, and maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety (ALARA guidelines).
- Direct and perform a sterile prep of patients for various procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain equipment as needed for a safe and accurate technical function and patient comfort and convenience.
- Refer equipment problems to the appropriate personnel for service.
- Enter patient data, charges, and supplies into the system accurately.
- Assist in stocking adequate supply quantities in procedure rooms and rotate for daily use.
- Practice in compliance with Hospital/department policy as well as New York state and accrediting agency standards.
- Rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
- Act as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students.
- Strives to grow and develop, creating a professional, progressive Imaging department with a positive atmosphere.
- Involvement in research procedures/protocols.
