At Midland States Bank, the base salary is just one aspect of our Total Rewards program. The specific compensation is influenced by various factors including education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This role also offers additional earnings through short-term incentives (such as bonuses and/or commissions) and may include long-term incentives (like stock awards). Position Overview
This role focuses on establishing relationships and generating business from referral sources including real estate agents, builders, bank colleagues, legal professionals, and accountants. Key responsibilities involve gathering and assessing prospective clients' income, assets, and liabilities to recommend the most suitable mortgage products along with other financial services tailored to their needs. This position operates independently.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the sales and origination of residential loans within the guidelines and rates established by the Bank and its investors.
- Address clients' residential mortgage requirements by evaluating their financial profiles and determining the appropriate mortgage options.
- Follow up with applicants to collect necessary information for loan processing and underwriting, including conducting site visits as required.
- Assist potential borrowers in successfully qualifying for financing.
- Consistently meet or exceed volume and/or unit production goals.
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, cross-functional teams, community organizations, title companies, and referral sources.
- Proactively cross-sell bank products when appropriate.
- Exhibit a positive demeanor and maintain integrity at all times.
- Deliver exceptional customer service.
- Support bank-sponsored events.
- Comply with relevant state and federal laws and regulations, the Company's Compliance Policy, and external compliance standards.
- Occasional travel for training and team meetings may be required, along with periodic travel to various locations as necessary.
- Work in a Midland office may be necessary to ensure collaboration and support for both internal and external clients.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to obtain NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in real estate and/or mortgage.
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit and experience in business development/sales.
- Familiarity with FHA, FNMA, and FHLMS underwriting guidelines.
- Understanding of mortgage compliance regulations.
- Business acumen and judgment regarding bank mortgage products, policies, and procedures.
- Skills in needs analysis, including evaluating customer income and debts.
- Interpersonal, persuasive, influencing, and negotiation skills.
