Position Summary

The Culinary Leader is responsible for overseeing a specific segment of the culinary operations and collaborating with the Executive Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef to establish, implement, and uphold quality standards. In the absence of the Executive Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef, the Culinary Leader may be required to manage the entire kitchen operation. The ideal candidate will achieve their objectives by supervising daily culinary activities, providing support and mentorship to the culinary team, ultimately ensuring a positive experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior management by taking on essential management duties
  • Act as a liaison between all culinary divisions and other hotel departments
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of various dishes
  • Develop and execute innovative menu items that align with Hyatt brand standards
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement special events and holiday functions
  • Manage kitchen staff through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluations, and hiring
  • May oversee other key culinary leadership roles, including supervisors and junior Sous Chefs
  • Lead and mentor the team to achieve outstanding guest service and employee satisfaction
  • Monitor food production, ordering, costs, and quality on a daily basis
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all kitchen operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in training, basic financial management, and customer service
  • Proficient in general computer skills
  • A genuine desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced service environment
  • Ability to produce consistent results in a timely manner
  • Strong training and communication abilities
  • Culinary education and/or relevant experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • Geographic and schedule flexibility preferred
