About the Department

The Department of Radiology at The University of Chicago is a dynamic and innovative team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and advancing the field of radiology. Our team includes over 80 full-time faculty members, clinical associates, advanced practice providers, and postdoctoral researchers.

We are a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Care Center, and a referral center for numerous neurologic and otolaryngologic disorders. Our team is committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients and advancing the field of radiology through research and education.

Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider will work independently and/or with supervision to assess, diagnose, and initiate delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice includes image guided procedures, inpatient rounding, outpatient clinics, family support, discharge planning, staff education, consultation, and research.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
  • Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
  • Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
  • Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Actively participates in program building, and quality measurement and improvement measures.
  • Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (or equivalent, if license received prior to July 1, 2001) from an accredited school/college of nursing or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
  • Experience in a procedural environment and/or performing procedures would be a benefit.
