This position serves as the Security Assistant (Dispatcher) for Police Service within the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION in Buffalo, NY. The primary purpose of this role is to monitor physical security equipment and systems, ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and respond to physical alarm systems and security cameras
Dispatch officers and coordinate emergency responses
Maintain reports and logs, including dates, times, and results of communications and activities
Prepare completed reports and issue government-issued keys and/or identification cards
Maintain accountability of Police Officer badges issued and associated logs

Requirements

One year of specialized experience in security or law enforcement
Knowledge of security or law enforcement objectives and programs
Ability to carry out support tasks related to law enforcement and security administration
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions

The work is typically sedentary in nature, with some walking, standing, and carrying of light items
May require working on off-tours, rotating shifts, or regular overtime
Must be willing to be placed, detailed, or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary
