About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs, and provide basic animal handling and restraint.
  • Obtain blood, stool, and other samples, perform in-hospital laboratory testing, and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs, following proper safety procedures.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab spaces, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to work on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads.
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper PPE.
  • Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS office applications.
