Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Urban Villages. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial building systems, ensuring that our properties remain safe and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems
  • Installation, inspection, adjustment, preventive maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment, including boilers, water pumps, chillers, air conditioning units, exhaust fans, air filters, compressors, and cooling towers
  • Repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, faucets, and pipes (copper, PVC, black, etc.)
  • Carpentry work, including construction, installation, remodeling, and repair of cabinets, partitions, walls, windows, doors, roofs, foundations, and other carpentry work, as directed

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in building/property maintenance or related engineering field – experience with commercial properties preferred
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems
  • Well-organized with attention to detail
  • Experience with MRI, Yardi, Entrata, or other maintenance work order software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to professionally communicate with diverse populations; polished customer service skills
  • Ability to tackle multiple tasks simultaneously, without losing focus or attention on any one; not afraid to ask for help when needed
  • Self-motivated, with ownership thinking perspective applied to decision making
  • Proficient use of both PCs and Macs
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; job duties may also require work to be performed from ladders, rooftops, or mechanical lifts
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating emergency contact schedule
  • Absolute discreteness in receiving and handling sensitive information
  • Valid driver's license and insurability under the company's insurance policy

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Full-time employee benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, paid time off, and a public transit pass and complimentary parking.
