Key Responsibilities

This role is a hybrid position, requiring candidates to report to our designated location once a week. Candidates residing outside the area will be responsible for their travel expenses.

State Farm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our corporate team, providing support to our facilities organization-wide. Candidates must be prepared to take and successfully complete the Professional Engineer (PE) exam within a specified timeframe.

  • Manage projects and provide consulting services for mechanical, plumbing/HVAC, controls, and environmental compliance.
  • Design and commission engineering solutions for company facilities.
  • Establish and uphold engineering design standards across the organization.
  • Prepare and interpret construction documents, drawings, and facility layouts.
  • Generate mechanical engineering documentation for various facilities.
  • Coordinate efforts with external engineering design consultants.
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations of facilities.
  • Perform mechanical engineering reviews and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee service delivery and property management vendors to ensure reliable facility maintenance.
  • Prepare cost estimates and analyses for mechanical engineering construction projects.
  • Support business partners in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or willingness to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience in facilities-related mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • Licensure in the State of Illinois is required (additional states may be considered later).
  • Inspection and operation of mechanical systems may involve challenging and hazardous conditions.
  • Physical mobility is necessary for climbing ladders and performing construction-related inspections.
  • Domestic travel to various company locations may be required.
  • Experience in mechanical planning and operations with a focus on design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
