Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our team at Avamere Living. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech pathology services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide speech pathology services to patients according to licensure and facility guidelines.
  • Direct and supervise the work of assistants, rehab aides, and students as applicable, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Follow all organizational and facility safety procedures to ensure personal protection and patient safety.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical and professional knowledge through associations and continuing education.
  • Support and participate in department operations and development, contributing to the growth and success of our team.
  • Communicate patient status and needs to patients, families, caregivers, or other members involved in patient care.
Associated Responsibilities
  • Perform evaluations pursuant to M.D. orders, payer authorizations, and facility/payer source guidelines.
  • Develop treatment plans and provide treatment, consistent with benefit and reimbursement levels, to achieve the best functional outcomes for patients.
  • Educate staff, other healthcare professionals, and third-party payers on the benefits and functional outcomes of interventions.
  • Complete documentation, including evaluations, daily progress notes, weekly summaries, or monthly reports, as required.
  • Meet or exceed productivity standards established with the Supervisor.
  • Screen individuals who may benefit from therapeutic intervention.
  • Use professional judgment to ensure safety for self, patients, and others at all times.
  • Achieve quality patient care through interdisciplinary communication.
  • Attend continuing education seminars/workshops to stay current with new clinical skills, programs, or techniques, and provide in-service training sessions or educational presentations to enhance clinical and professional knowledge and skills.
  • Provide clear directives to assistants and rehab aides concerning patients and treatment plans prior to initiation of patient care.
  • Confer with the Director of Rehab to develop and implement new programs and techniques to enhance program utilization.
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure, certification, and credentialing.
  • Submit billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other members of the rehab team.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved curriculum in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Able to practice unencumbered.
  • In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources.
  • Full knowledge of resident's rights.
  • Exudes professionalism in presentation.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
