Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodial Substitute to join our team at Rio Elementary. As a Custodial Substitute, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and security of our school plant, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Confer with school site administrators to discuss custodial needs and priorities
  • Inspect school plant to identify areas for improvement and report any health and safety hazards
  • Perform security duties, including setting security alarm systems and locking/unlocking doors
  • Clean and maintain floors, walls, and other surfaces
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles, refill dispensers, and clean drinking fountains
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment
  • Assist with special events and meetings, setting up facilities and equipment as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in custodial work or a related field
  • Valid State of California Class C driver's license (desirable)
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:

Working in a school site environment, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to sunlight, noise, and other outside conditions. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions and with chemicals.
