The advisor will also aid in the development of essential academic skills and connect students with additional resources that can positively influence their educational journey while supporting their personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct bi-weekly reviews of probationary and repeat students, formulating action plans for those facing challenges, and coordinating with faculty and administration to ensure their success.
  • Analyze weekly campus reports (attendance, grades, withdrawals) to identify at-risk students and initiate outreach to develop supportive plans.
  • Engage in weekly discussions with faculty and campus leadership to strategize retention efforts for at-risk students.
  • Participate in regular calls with Central Support Senior Leadership to review at-risk students and campus retention strategies, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Provide academic mentorship and support to a diverse student body, acting as a coach and guide.
  • Facilitate the development of educational skills and promote behaviors conducive to academic success.
  • Continuously monitor student performance and proactively communicate regarding their academic progress.
  • Offer guidance on developing coping strategies and other essential skills for success in higher education.
  • Instruct foundational courses to assist students in acquiring necessary skills for nursing education.
  • Collaborate with faculty to enhance student success, scheduling advisement and tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Follow up on interventions with faculty and students to address both academic and non-academic challenges.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student interactions and support provided.
  • Develop and organize support materials in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring accessibility for students.
  • Conduct workshops focused on skills and tools essential for academic achievement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of student resources and make necessary adjustments.
  • Connect students with community resources to address non-academic issues impacting their educational success.
  • Serve as the liaison for the online library, assisting students in navigating and utilizing its resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of administrative experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years in a student support role within higher education.
  • Strong proficiency in mathematics and English, along with solid academic skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team framework, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in tutoring and advising, particularly with at-risk student populations.
  • Experience working with a diverse student demographic.
