Job Summary

UPMC Manchester Family Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our team in providing high-quality patient care.

This role involves assisting physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

The ideal candidate will have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, and other tasks as needed.
  • Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Relay instructions to patients/families and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control.
  • Check schedules and organize patient flow, answer calls, and provide pertinent information.
  • Perform clinic procedures, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs, under the direction of a physician.
  • Administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) or successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA).
  • At least 1 year of patient care experience required.
Clearances and Certifications
  • CPR required based on AHA standards.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
