Program Overview

Emory Healthcare's Orthopedic PA and Acute Care NP Fellowship Program is a one-year post graduate training and education program designed to prepare advanced practice providers in orthopedics. The program provides a structured and supportive environment for fellows to develop their skills and knowledge in the multidisciplinary management of complex and challenging patients.

Program Objectives
  • To provide fellows with a comprehensive education in orthopedic care, including joints, upper extremity, lower extremity, orthopedic oncology, and spine.
  • To develop fellows' skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of orthopedic patients.
  • To prepare fellows for a career in orthopedic practice, including leadership and education roles.
Program Structure

The fellowship program is designed to provide a balanced curriculum of didactic and clinical education. Fellows will participate in a variety of educational activities, including:

  • Didactic sessions on orthopedic topics, including lectures, case presentations, and workshops.
  • Clinical rotations in orthopedic subspecialties, including joints, upper extremity, lower extremity, orthopedic oncology, and spine.
  • Elective rotations in related fields, such as physical medicine and rehabilitation or pain management.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the fellowship program, applicants must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited PA or Acute Care NP Master's program.
  • Be nationally board certified as a PA or Acute Care NP.
  • Be eligible for licensure as a PA or NP in Georgia.
  • Be eligible for a DEA license.
  • Hold current American Heart Association BLS and Healthcare Provider certifications.
