EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role involves conducting advanced research in the field of soilless agriculture, with a primary focus on nutrient management, microbial interactions, and the assembly of endemic microbial communities. The successful candidate will engage in experimental work utilizing state-of-the-art molecular and omics technologies, perform comprehensive data analysis using bioinformatics tools, and contribute to the publication of scientific findings. Additionally, the role includes operating laboratory equipment and managing various research tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute laboratory experiments employing molecular and omics methodologies.
- Analyze research data utilizing bioinformatics applications.
- Provide training to students on laboratory protocols.
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and adherence to safety standards.
- Collaborate with research partners on experimental designs.
- Prepare presentations and contribute to scientific publications.
- Assist in the establishment and upkeep of soilless agricultural systems.
- Capability to work autonomously.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent writing abilities for scientific documentation.
- Resourceful, proactive, and reliable.
Oversee student researchers under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other related tasks as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with molecular and omics technologies.
- Expertise in bioinformatics for data interpretation.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and publish findings.
- Prior experience with laboratory instrumentation is advantageous.
Predominantly laboratory and field-based work. Must be prepared to work in elevated temperatures and lift heavy materials for aquaponics-related tasks.
