About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Civil Engineer II to join our team at HR Green. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our client communities through the planning, designing, and construction of public works facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform professional and technical engineering work relative to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Review engineering plans and specifications for private development projects, including drainage, streets, storm drains, sewer lines, and transportation-related projects.
  • Facilitate engineering reviews for private development projects for the city.
  • Answer inquiries from city, developers, engineers, and the general public.
  • Assist in the development of revised design and construction standards for public works structures and appurtenances.
  • Provide assistance to construction inspectors to ensure compliance on City projects, subdivisions, and encroachments.
  • Investigate field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and maintenance operations; resolve problems or refer as appropriate.
  • Request and participate in the collection of survey and mapping data.
  • Participate in the plan check, review, and processing of plans for private developments affecting City streets, sewers, drains, and related public works facilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of visual presentations and reports for City Council and Planning Commission meetings.
  • Assist in gathering technical data required for planning of a wide variety of civil engineering projects.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering, a related field, or a field deemed pertinent to the delivery of services.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration experience, preferably in a public agency setting.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of civil engineering as applied to the planning, designing, and construction of streets, water, sewer, and other public works facilities, structures, and systems.
  • Experience with engineering software applications and computers, and materials, methods, and equipment used in the construction of public works.
  • Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in the state of residence or the ability to obtain such certification within six months of employment.
  • Professional Engineering license is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license.
