This position may specialize in care for certain complex patient types, through advanced training and education.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients to identify their level of function and determine the treatment plan.
- Develop and implement the physical therapy treatment plan, providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers as needed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to modify the treatment plan, progress, and discharge planning for achievement of identified patient-specific goals.
- Provide select oversight of physical therapy-related activities provided by the interprofessional healthcare team, and adjust the plan to improve quality of outcome and maintain patient safety.
- Proactively identify opportunities for corrective action and assist in process improvement by providing recommendations and contributing to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
- Two years of experience as a Physical Therapist; or completion of HM or comparable Physical Therapy Residency program.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.
- PT - Physical Therapist - State Licensure with the Texas Board of Examiners. Compact license acceptable according to current ECPTOTE requirements within 90 days.
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025, will be Houston Methodist's ninth hospital and will incorporate the most advanced technology available from the day the doors open. With 100 beds (at our opening; licensed for 276) and a prime location in the heart of the rapidly growing U.S. 290 corridor, the hospital will be equipped with technologically advanced innovations implemented during COVID, many of them designed to make patient communication with physicians, staff, and families the very best and most effective in any healthcare facility.
