Position Overview:
We are pleased to present an opportunity to join our team as a Facility Maintenance Specialist.


In this capacity, the successful applicant will be responsible for upholding a designated standard of cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the assigned areas within the Medical Center.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to established safety and infection control protocols. Follows departmental safety procedures when operating equipment and relocating furniture; employs proper body mechanics. Seeks assistance when handling items that are excessively large or heavy. Utilizes gloves consistently and adheres to infection control guidelines. Frequently washes hands to prevent cross-contamination and reports any hazardous conditions to the supervisor. Appropriately posts wet floor signs and takes preventive measures against accidents caused by wet surfaces as per departmental policy.
  • Performs additional tasks as required.
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, collects waste, polishes floors using buffing machines, conducts high dusting, spot cleans doors as necessary, removes stains, makes beds, and performs wall washing. Cleans restrooms, sanitizes furniture, empties waste containers, and cleans window treatments, radiators, railings, staircases, lighting fixtures, vents, and doors. Uses ladders for cleaning door frames and picture frames. Cleans porter closets, equipment, and replenishes cleaning supplies. Utilizes communication devices for Bed Tracking.
  • Must be adept in operating the computer Bed Tracking System and a pager for receiving discharge notifications and reporting completed cleanings. Familiarity with the Bed Tracking program is essential. Executes daily cleaning protocols for each patient room and provides discharge cleaning as needed. Specifically, this includes dusting, wall washing, damp wiping of surfaces with approved disinfectants. Sweeps and mops floors, disinfects restrooms, and restocks supplies. Empties and replaces trash liners. Removes fingerprints from walls, doors, and other surfaces. Conducts high dusting as scheduled or required. Uses germicidal cleaners for disinfecting all restroom items. Knowledge of hospital safety protocols, including RACE, PASS, chemical and waste safety, MSDS, HIPAA, and all infection control measures is necessary. Cleans areas contaminated by blood or bodily fluids using appropriate solutions.
  • Consistently ensures adequate supplies are available throughout the workday. Typically manages all tools and equipment necessary for daily tasks. Conducts thorough cleaning of assigned areas according to departmental procedures and supervisor instructions. Empties waste containers and disposes of trash properly, cleans as needed, and replaces liners as required. Sweeps hard floor surfaces with appropriate tools, moving necessary items to achieve a clean floor; uses clean dust mops. Mops hard floor surfaces with suitable germicidal solutions, ensuring cleanliness and changing mopping solutions regularly.
  • Thoroughly vacuums all carpeted areas; removes spots using a carpet spotter, moving necessary items to vacuum the entire area. Polishes floors using burnishing machines, ensuring the use of proper solutions and pads. Moves items as needed to achieve a polished finish. Cleans and prepares discharge rooms according to specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must be able to communicate and comprehend simple instructions in English. Must be able to read MSDS and chemical labels.

Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years of experience in a cleaning role within a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualified candidates should be capable of effectively communicating with all organizational levels.
