The Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) is a vital component of the Med/Surg Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont HealthCare. This specialized unit supports the onboarding of new graduate nurses through three cohorts each year, catering to seven med/surg units.

New graduate nurses begin their orientation in this dedicated environment, guided by experienced preceptors, ensuring they build a strong clinical foundation before transitioning to their designated units.

The NRU fosters a safe and supportive learning atmosphere, aimed at cultivating competent and highly-skilled nursing professionals.

Our dedicated preceptors, leadership team, and Nurse Residency Coordinator provide exceptional support to nurse residents throughout their orientation and transition into practice.


Located in our state-of-the-art facility, NRU nurses deliver high-quality care to acute care patients, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Nurses operate within the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.

NRU nurses are responsible for upholding practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.

Nurses function within the framework of organizational policies and procedures, showcasing professional growth and accountability.

Staff nurses are tasked with maintaining practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among assigned personnel to deliver quality nursing services.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

New graduates of a nursing program are eligible

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification is mandatory.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced certification in a specialty area, if applicable. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
