Key Responsibilities

Safety Oversight:
  • Ensure the safe execution of all yard operations, packaging, and sampling processes, including coordinating safety training for all team members and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Implement pre-start inspections and uphold safety standards for the forklift fleet in alignment with company policies.
  • Organize and lead Safety Toolbox Talks as needed.
  • Conduct safety, quality, and housekeeping audits across all relevant departments.
  • Oversee accident investigations within the department.
Operational Management:
  • Guarantee product quality adheres to established standards, participating in grading and assessment while training staff to maintain or exceed these benchmarks.
  • Manage inventory storage and handling processes to ensure seamless production and timely preparation of products for delivery.
  • Lead monthly inventory audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Document yard movements and manage scrap as necessary.
  • Assist in verifying daily production figures to ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs on forklifts and mobile equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise a team of 4-6 employees, including forklift operators and plant laborers, managing performance and daily operations.
  • Handle vacation scheduling and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and labor agreements.
Performance Monitoring:
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to manage quality and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in meetings with operations management to discuss performance and strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and reduce downtime across departments.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for plant management.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within associated departments.
Qualifications:
  • Technical degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven supervisory and management experience in inventory, yard, or warehouse settings.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
