Overview of the Role of a Parkview Safety and Security Officer
Unique Contribution
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief/Manager and the Captain/Supervisor, this role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all Parkview owned facilities, assets, and grounds.
Enhances the overall patient experience by proactively ensuring that all customers receive services in a safe and secure setting.
Engages in general safety and security responsibilities, prioritizing the protection of life and property while enforcing Parkview Health policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting foot and vehicle patrols, providing escort services, gathering data for crime and incident reports, managing access control, overseeing lost and found items, handling patient valuables, and managing the pickup and release of deceased patients.
Assists the Samaritan Crew and air medical teams in safely unloading patients transported to Parkview via helicopter.
Is dedicated to delivering services to all customers, both internal and external, in a friendly, respectful, and courteous manner, striving for excellence in service delivery.
Educational Requirements
Must possess a high school diploma or GED. An Associate's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Licensure and Certification
Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license at the time of hire, obtain current CPR certification within 90 days of hire, and complete a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program within six (6) months of hire.
Experience Requirements
No prior experience is necessary; however, experience as a Security Officer, Police Officer, or Military Police is preferred.
Additional Qualifications
Must be proficient in computer use, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be physically capable of managing disoriented, disruptive, or combative individuals. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays outside of regular scheduled hours is required. Must be willing to work at any Parkview owned location as needed. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Vision must be 20/40 or better with both eyes. Ability to lift and push/pull 70 lbs is necessary. Demonstrates capability to multitask and work independently while utilizing critical thinking skills.
