Position Summary: The Environmental Services Training Supervisor operates under limited supervision to uphold environmental and infection control standards within the policies and procedures of a healthcare setting. This role involves coordinating staff in various cleaning tasks to ensure the cleanliness of patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other designated areas. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for distributing and monitoring clean Microfiber supplies to user departments and maintaining inventory levels on nursing floors. This position requires adherence to standard hospital housekeeping practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate, direct, and oversee assigned Environmental Services Technicians to ensure effective environmental services with a focus on infection control.
  2. Maintain professional relationships with site Points of Contact (POCs), including unit Custody Officers and medical personnel, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations and addressing any service-related issues.
  3. Schedule and prioritize tasks while ensuring compliance with procedures, regulations, and guidelines to minimize errors and safety risks.
  4. Participate in regularly scheduled staff, leadership, committee, and offsite meetings, preparing necessary materials such as agendas and rosters.
  5. Train and mentor both current and new Environmental Services staff, ensuring adherence to proper procedures, processes, equipment usage, and supply management.
  6. Collaborate with Environmental Services Technicians to fulfill contractual obligations.
  7. Ensure all required documentation is complete, accurate, and appropriately signed.
  8. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months to one year of experience in custodial services and/or building maintenance, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with departmental operations, procedures, and organizational policies.
  • Understanding of specialized custodial services equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Ability to effectively train employees in departmental practices and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information and respond to inquiries.
  • Human relations skills to foster effective working relationships with staff and clients.
  • Proficient in business English, including vocabulary, spelling, and grammar.
  • Basic mathematical skills for operational tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, and analytical skills.

Mental and Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform effectively in high-stress situations without compromising personal health or the well-being of others.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Demands: Employees must be capable of performing the following physical tasks for extended periods:

  • Mobility within the worksite.
  • Standing and walking.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping.
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Pushing or pulling equipment such as vacuums and carts.
  • Climbing ladders or step stools.

Work Environment: Work is conducted in a healthcare facility with specific security and environmental control needs. Employees may encounter confined spaces and aseptic areas, with potential exposure to various elements including dirt, dust, odors, and infectious materials.
